Nana's Granola

Nana's Granola

Look what Nana made for all of us for breakfast - a special request from God-Mama!
...it's gluten free : )

Nana's Granola

6 cupsGF rolled oats
2 1/2 cups slivered almonds
1 cup pecans (roughly chopped)
1 cup raw sunflower seeds
2 cups shredded coconut
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup honey (or maple syrup)
4 Tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1  1/2 teaspoons vanilla
2 cups raisins
(Do NOT bake raisins - I know - 'cause I've done it a time or two!)

For those that aren't gluten free eaters:
add 1/2 cup flax seed
and 1/2 cup wheat germ

In a large bowl, combine the oats, nuts,  and coconut.
In a separate bowl, combine honey, oil, salt, vanilla and brown sugar.
Pour liquid over oat mixture and mix.
Put onto two sheet pans.  Bake at 325 degrees for about an hour; stirring every 15 minutes until golden brown.
Remove from oven and add raisins!

Hurry up and eat it, because it goes FAST!

  1. Sounds totally yum. I use my aunt's recipe. Homemade granola is the best! Thanks for coming on over to Things Bright. :)
